    I’d say that it’s a U-shaped curve. Look at people like Nathan Myhrvold; surely he has more culinary skill than most!

    I think this should have been a parabola. Lots of fancy cookbooks use the microwave, see Modernist Cuisine for example, but with far more control (i.e. adjusting power) than a typical user.

    Agree with the parabola shaped comments.

    Microwave popcorn (and fudge! And coffee mug cakes!!) all have their perfectly appropriate and valid place in cuisine along with the chateaubriand, confit, and house charcuterie.
