    This seems like a bit of an oversimplification?

    Understanding another individual’s motives and wants can directly affect your ability to interpret what you have heard on the receiving end; this is pretty critical for the attention/act cycle to ever produce positive results — on either end.

      So, you’re saying that in addition, you have to pay attention to their motivations, needs, and wants, then act on them?

      It’d be nice if that concept could be encapsulated in a quick doodle on a index card.
