    A fine example would be any hat made of three pieces of hay and a drinking straw.

    Someone could wear an odd hat because they are insecure and use the hat to hide people from the real them with a distracting costume, deflecting attention to the hat, as they are not confident just being themselves without a gimmick.

    And all I can picture now is a giant hat with a flaming torch on top and a plaque on the front reading “Gilgamesh Wulfenbach – Schmott Guy!”.

    I agree with YourMother. I think it’s actually bell-shaped. There’s a level of confidence that can make the most boring hat work as well.

    And as always, the sad dip in the middle, trying to fit in.
