    Interestingly I’ve heard it put the exact opposite way as well, and it kinda made sense. I mean, you’d have to have a huge ego to think you could help more than a few people. Of course it probably isn’t that cut and dry either way, just putting a good word out for the egotists out there

    I’m thinking the vertical axis is about how willing you are not about how many others. You might have a whole lot of willingness without ever spending it on more that one (really really needy) person. And I don’t think I’ve ever met an egotistical person who cared a fig for anyone else.
