    At a point in between, consumers begin to respect the power of their consumption to have an impact on their own community. They begin to abandon big box stores and try to spend money with their local merchants, in the hope of improving the lives of their neighbors and themselves, by keeping more of their money in their community.

    I call this line the “Wall Mart Threshold”.

    I don’t think this applies to the DMV. Very little respect seems to be exchanged in that venue.
