    That’s cold…

  2. (x, why?) says:

Not entirely true. People that don’t check in on their elderly parents still manage to check into their rent-controlled apartments on the same lease. (“Oh, I was living here on the couch, but I was on vacation last week. Oh, it’s so sad.”)

    ouch…

    also xy… whut?

  4. inNY says:

Hilarious! I almost spit my coffee out laughing so hard. You probably need to be familiar with New York City’s rent controlled apartment laws to fully appreciate just how funny this is.

  5. El Gordo 42 says:

    True, but kind of eeewww!

  6. Dana says:

Yes, Bob — cold, but true. My elderly cousin fell, broke his hip, and could not recover from the surgery. The same week his former law partner fell and hit his head. The two funerals were only days apart. There is a point where you can not fall down — or get overheated — and live to tell about it. Somewhat like the wonderful, one-horse shay, I guess… None of us are here forever.

  7. Bruce InCharlotte says:

I think Bob wins for “cold” which applies on two levels, plus he got first. ;-)

  8. (x, why?) says:

@tahrey: In NYC, relatives have been known to claim that they had lived in the rent-controlled appt with the elderly relative so that they can keep the lease at the low rent, even if it’s a one bedroom appt where they wouldn’t have had a place to sleep (except the couch).

OTOH, had they actually been living there, the elderly person probably wouldn’t have died of something that was preventable.

    Sick, sick, sick!! LMFAO!!!
