And I was just about to get Chinese…

  2. Bret says:

    Bwa!

I should know not to check this site when I’m eating. I almost redecorated my office in chicken mushroom soup.

  4. Bridgett says:

    Oh, that’s horrifying.

Three blocks from my house is a vet’s office that shares a street-front building with a Chinese carry out place. We don’t go to either.

  5. Emily says:

    Heh heh.

  6. Zac says:

You’re better than stooping to repeating tired old ethnic stereotypes.

  7. obama says:

    uh gross?

  8. Mandaliet says:

I was expecting B to be something involving the sack being thrown in a lake.

  9. Mike says:

B could also be “how PETA gets recruits”.

  10. Nia says:

    I agree with Mandaliet.

  12. Debbie says:

  15. katie says:

Yeah, I’m with Zac. I know it’s supposed to be funny, but I’m disappointed.

  16. ally says:

I agree with Zac, Nia, and Katie. It’s an awful stereotype that continues to be perpetuated by word of mouth.

This link from snopes details the myth of cats in Chinese food.

As an asian american, I am deeply disappointed.

  17. Fritz says:

Add a fourth circle overlapping the middle. Label it “Unnecessary”. The intersection is “Spay your cat.”

  18. Mary says:

I agree with the calls that your better than stooping to stereotypes. I love the comic normally, it’s really fantastic.

  19. Eric says:

Stereotypes are the basis of much humor and often the key to breaking them down is pointing out how ridiculous they are. The only people who could take this seriously are really stupid people and you can’t change them anyway.

  20. meow says:

    Eeew.

    (LOL!)

And while we’re on stereotypes, how many Jews were carrying out? And was it Chirstmas Eve?

    (laugh, people, life’s too short)

  21. Blogesque says:

Those of you who are claiming that cat meat in Chinese food is a “myth,” please read this article at Newsweek:

    http://www.newsweek.com/id/175842

    Here’s the first graf:

(BEIJING) While animal lovers in Beijing protested the killing of cats for food on Thursday, a butcher in Guangdong province — where felines are the main ingredient in a famous soup — just shrugged her shoulders and wielded her cleaver. “Cats have a strong flavor. Dogs taste much better, but if you really want cat meat, I can have it delivered by tomorrow,” said the butcher, who gave only her surname, Huang.

It’s not a stereotype, it really does happen on a large scale (albeit maybe not so much here in the US). Lighten up on Jessica.

  22. Louie Prima's Ghost says:

I would eat the fuck out of some cats if they were legal to cook in the US.

An animal is an animal, you cook it, I’ll try some.
