    I think this comic makes lots sense without any adjustments.

    Without having bad things happen to you, or having to deal with failure a lot you wont grow to be able to handle a life or death situation with ease.

    Or, people who find things really easy all their lives tend to crash the second they are faced with something that’s hard or when their skill plateaus out.
