I used to say that living with my ex was like living with a roadside bomb: I never knew when she would explode, what would set her off, or how bad the damage would be. Still, ending that relationship felt like losing a limb.
Sometimes it takes a couple of years to discover the hope. A toxic relationship can poison your mind in that way. It has taken me a long time to realize that I didn’t lose a limb; I gained freedom from my tormentor. Now, I’m cautiously examining hope as an option. I like what I see.
