So there is such a thing as too much progress?

Or put that another way – So there is a sweet spot that balances progress and optimism?

  2. doublebanker says:

Been an oversaver for so long…that I’m spending now that prices are dropping on big ticket items!

  3. Bret says:

    x= -3 & y= -3 for Bret,… “resigned/overdrawn”

  4. Jen Shizuka says:

Hmm. So why “Progress”? Could just be “Savings” eh? The overspending could be on the negative X axis. ;)

  5. jrm says:

spend while you’re still young the money you’ll have when you get older :)

  6. ISammael says:

JRM: That’s what this new bailout money will be doing! My poor unborn children…

QKA: Well, yes, of course there is. “Progress” is such a subjective word, and it isn’t always beneficial.

  7. Mike says:

    ISammael: All words are subjective.

  8. Mike says:

    Oversaving? Is that possible?

  9. dana says:

Oversaving — some old guy died of malnutrition after eating about 5 cents worth of oatmeal every day. Then they found a bunch of gold coins hidden in the plumbing ‘trap’ under the sink. I’d say he was definitely ‘oversaving’…

I’m currently in a barren place where even putting the (paltry) maximum amount into the government-backed tax-free savings scheme each year is looking a bit patchy. A choice between managing that, and getting the rent paid/food & fuel bought for the next two months.

So in this case “bog standard saving” looks to be oversaving.
